KADEY BALLARD
Start time: 08:00 PM
CLT based psych-folk singer songwriter Kadey Ballard delivers intimate performances of spellbinding mountain hymns. Influenced by time spent in the Appalachians, her hypnotic songs are dreamy incantations of love and loss.Ballards music is full of ghosts, a catalog of personal and universal lore, conjured by humming acoustic-electric soundscapes, weaving strings, and ethereal, bewitching vocals.
"Ballard describes her music asdreamy heartache incantations. Like the emotions evoked, the names of what she calls acoustic music with an electric hum are legion. Recently Ballard has experimented with her haunted psych-folk, rerecording two songs off her 2023 LPSybilswith cellist Polina Kermesh and alternating solo performances with sets featuring a string-driven trio with violinist Brenda Gambill (Doubting Thomas) and cellist Hampton Crump." -QCNERVE
Ballards songs emerge from a psychic space that could be southern Appalachia or the Scottish highlands, but is more likely another world entirely - Bruce Brightly
Accomplished actress Kadey Ballard proves just as accomplished at making music with her haunted hymns and Appalachian infused incantations. - QCNerve - Critics Pick Best Singer Songwriter 2022
